Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 26 - 2009
Continuing our sales and motivational theme, the post today is as relevant to writing sales copy for your blog or merchant site as it is for ‘in the flesh’ meetings – it may also help you in your relationships. So don’t think that because you are not managing a group of people that these techniques are not relevant, Read the rest of this entry »

7 Habits Of The Successful Entrepreneur

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 25 - 2009
When I was young, I worked in a financial services company alongside a lady whose husband was one of the leading entrepreneurs at the time. He was involved in a multitude of businesses but very few people knew who he was. After riding in the London to Brighton bike ride we were invited to this lady’s house and I was keen to meet her husband. Read the rest of this entry »

Progress Update Of Our Blog

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 24 - 2009
Having started this blog about one month ago as an entrepreneur blog, we now have about 100 readers per day. As the blog is partly about helping entrepreneurs start an online business we thought it would be cool to give a progress report each month as a kind of diary of what we are doing, what we intend to do and the consequences of our successes and failures. So here is volume one! Read the rest of this entry »

Having a Bad Day?

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 23 - 2009
I wasn’t going to write an article today, simply because I am not in the mood and haven’t been all day. I guess this stemmed from the fact that I failed to get the result I wanted on my bike ride today and have been beating myself up since. Read the rest of this entry »

Freelancers For Your Blog?

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 22 - 2009
Making money on the net, real money, is like any other business. Essentially what you are doing is buying a product from an employee – his time and/or talent – and selling it to someone else at a profit. Whether you make cars, aeroplanes, tomato soup or hamburgers, your staff build your business from the burger flipper to the franchise manager. Read the rest of this entry »

Make Money With Adwords Part Two

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 22 - 2009
In part one of ‘Make Money With Adwords‘ we talked about the simple math behind the idea of PPC (PAY Per Click) advertising in term of how mail shot marketing was done in the ‘old days’. I can testify that there was plenty of money in being able to identify a product that provided a return over the cost of marketing it which could be easily calculated. Read the rest of this entry »

Make Money With Adwords?

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 19 - 2009
Anyone that has surfed the net has seen the multitude of “get rich now” websites, landing pages, articles, blogs, and the list goes on, in fact in a search in Google for “make money with Adwords” there are over 200,000 pages and I am sure if you substitute ‘make money’ with ‘get rich’ etc there will be millions more. As with all of the get rich schemes on the web, part of the mind pushes this aside as all hype and wishful thinking, but the other part of us says ‘what if?’ Read the rest of this entry »

Auto Bitch Slapped By John Chow

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 18 - 2009
When I was in my twenties I was an angry young man. Not to the point of fighting with everyone, I just had a short temper and did not suffer fools – even though I was probably one of them! Marriage to a beautiful and calming woman and a few years added I am now seen to be so laid back I am almost horizontal. Read the rest of this entry »

Make Money Online By Getting Fit First

Posted by TheMarketMaker On June - 16 - 2009
Making money on the Internet is like any other business. Some online marketing gurus will say they make money on the Internet through some kind of ‘automatic program’ like money just magically appears to those who have 5 minutes a day to spare. You and I know both know this is cobblers. Read the rest of this entry »

About Me

My name is David, I am very happily married and have one step son. We moved to Switzerland 4 years ago as we love the country, it is a hub of entrepreneurship, the people are fabulous and the skiing is not bad either!

This blog is about passing on some of the strategies I have learned in 20 years as an entrepreneur, from running a commodities operation producing $300mn per year of business to the challenges of owning a small hotel on a tiny Caribbean island and many businesses inbetween.

Others coaches are excellent at reading books and distilling the content for you, that is great if that is what you are looking for. I give you practical advice through my own successes and mistakes. I hope you find the blog useful.
