I wasn’t going to write an article today, simply because I am not in the mood and haven’t been all day. I guess this stemmed from the fact that I failed to get the result I wanted on my bike ride today and have been beating myself up since.
I rode to the top of my village (we are on a mountain side) and the wind was terribly strong. I made some excuse to myself about it being too windy and rode back down. The fact is that when the elements are against you you just have to try harder. There is no point to starting your quest if you are just going to give up. My quest, physically, is to reach the peak of fitness in the next six months. Giving up because it is ‘windy’ will not get me there.
This then, can only be a metaphor for the online businesses that we are trying to create. I say ‘we’ because it is likely you came here seeking some guidance on your quest to make money online and you might be feeling that the wind is too strong today.
Let me tell you something I have learned from 20 years in business, when things look worst ignore your fears, your doubts, the haters, the doubters, the negative influences and the internal conflicts and just keep doing what you do.
Like a sailor traversing the Atlantic, you may find that an experienced sailor gets there fastest but a novice with determination will get there in the end and, my friends… that is all that counts.
I also went searching for motivation on the web.. and I found this… it’s incredible and I wanted to share it.
So if today has been one of those days, just like mine, and you felt the wind wasn’t blowing your way, just think about the determination of my heroes Dick and Rick Hoyt.
