The undisputed king of self-improvement. I am still a little ‘peeved’ that the Robbins organisation has turned my application for their affiliate program down automatically through Commission Junction, not once but several times. They can expect me to be more than persistent (so taught by Mr Robbins!). The simple fact is that I recommend him all day long to everyone. Some people say he is ‘too hyped’ all I can tell you is that my life is much richer for his input.

Author of ‘The One Minute Millionaire’ Robert Allen is a respected self help Guru. For me his web presence is a little ‘in your face’ but the guy is a successful marketer so it must work for him.

Looks to be the right account for Ken Blanchard, the tweets seem pretty genuine. I guess although Ken is a fabulous leader and author of such a classic like ‘The One Minute Manager’, he is not too hot on his Twitter marketing yet. One to watch and some good tweets.

Author of ‘The Success Principals’ and The Chicken Soup For The Soul series of books Jack is one of the veterans of the peak performance and self improvement industry. Straight talking tweets and regularly interacts with his followers. Seems to be plenty of tweets coming through, doesn’t look like there are automated.

DEEPAK CHOPRA is the author of more than fifty books translated into over thirty-five languages, including numerous New York Times bestsellers in both the fiction and nonfiction categories. Time magazine heralds Deepak Chopra as one of the top 100 heroes and icons of the century and credits him as ‘the poet-prophet of alternative medicine’.

Uri Geller was born in Israel he is a mystifier and the most investigated Paranormalist, Psychic, Spoonbender, Phenomenon. He is distantly related to Freud. Many poke fun at the famous spoon bender and friend to the late Michael Jackson, but he is a positive guy. At the moment he doesn’t tweet much and only has 750 followers, but I suspect he will do more as he finds out Twitters ‘mystical powers’.

Gained super fame as an Oprah side bar and then powered on to his own shows. I think Dr Phil has some Yorkshire in him somewhere because ‘he likes what he says and he says what he likes’. All common sense motivation, Tweets regularly, top marks for Oprah’s favourite guru.

Not what you would say is a traditional self help ‘guru’ but, like zillions of people around the world, you cannot help but be inspired by Oprah. Don’t ask me what it is she has got, but my ideal dinner party of ten would definitely include the day-time-diva.

“Just a simple girl who recently traded in her role as the quintessential alpha woman to pursue a life of sanity! Mom, blogger & ready for my next” is what her profile says and to be fair, that is what she is about. Really enjoyable infectious twitter.

Publisher and Editorial Director of SUCCESS Magazine and SUCCESS.com. Lots of tweets linking to the success blog, but these are quality articles. As a Brit I do find it a little ‘cheesy’ sometimes, but the value far out ways the cheese.

Interesting Twitter account set up to go along with the book ‘Surviving Your Serengeti’. The book is a larger than life metaphor for the problems that humans and businesses experience on a daily basis. Interesting book and interesting tweets.

Ashton Kutcher is not your traditional self help guru, but his posts are quite inspirational. He seems to be a spiritual guy with a drive to help out where he can. His very public challenge to CNN to get to 1mn followers first catapulted his popularity and, by followers, he is the king of Twitter. Great tweets very interactive, nice guy… what more do you need?
Not exactly self help ‘guru’ per se. Unless you happen to be in sales. Straight to the point sales ideas. I like his no BS style.

Awesome teenager who helps ADHD kids by building their self esteem and helping them manager their energy by involving horses. Very inspirational and makes you believe the world ain’t such a bad place if youngsters like this are out there.

Tony Galliano, author of the ’sixty second strategist’, has some great tweets. I enjoy the up front nature if the tweets. He bangs on a bit too much about the book in tweets, but I guess that is what he is selling. Would probably be better off just tweeting more good stuff. Regardless of this, he is very much worth following.

You know what. Any one who has “but most importantly, a single Dad to a beautiful girl and an angel in heaven” is inspirational instantaneously. I have not seen a profile of anyone claiming to a proud parent that tweets rubbish…. probably spoiled that now…. very interactive, great motivational tweets and links… worth a follow.
25. @MarthaStewart
Oddly motivational….
26. @MissKatiePrice
OK cane me… go ahead… Tony Robbins and a glamour model on the same ’self help’ list? You know what, she is estimated to be worth £50mn. She says exactly what is on her mind and she has played to her strengths. She has been voted one of Britain’s top mums and she has more balls than most men I have met. OK, so the tweets aren’t Napoleon Hill but you have to admire the straight up nature of this formidable woman.

I listened to the podcast of the fabulously named Aurelius Tjin by Tyrone Schum. Nicknamed ‘The Unstoppable Profits Guy’ Aurelius is more of an Internet marketer than a self help Guru. However the interview with Tyrone showed a remarkably easy manner when presenting entrepreneurial information and a heavy influence by the self help gurus. Worth a follow for sure.

Ex army officer and now church minister Dr John McGinn provides some great tweets. I have a natural affinity to anyone who served in the forces, as I did, and followed his tweets on that basis. I have not been disappointed.

Once again I have snuck in a non-guru. Thing is however, that someone like Poulter really does interact with his followers. I find professional sports people highly motivational. Let’s face it, to be top of your profession in sports you have to have a head on you. I watched a magnificently beautiful woman, barely clothed, follow Poulter around on every tee of the Volvo Masters in Valderama, Spain. That would be a distraction for anyone… he won the tournament… want to learn about focus? Tweet him!

Just ‘KING COMBS’ written in his profile. Diddy is nothing if not infectious. He does tend to big up himself constantly, but in my opinion he is the only one who can get away with it ‘cos you realise he is genuine and there is many a ‘guru’ who doesn’t come close. The ‘don of song’ is definitely worth a follow. He won’t follow back though, so remember to follow again if you play the follow/unfollow game.

I like John Chow. His no BS approach about making money on the web strikes a chord with many people, hence his popularity. He is not your traditional self-help guy and I am sure he would be horrified to be classed as such, but he does come across as motivational. His series on ‘the dot-com lifestyle’ is excellent for those needing that extra push.
35. @Shoemoney

Jeremey Schoemaker is not the bulging biceped picture of health that many self helpers come across as. He is clearly an uber-geek who, like John Chow, would probably barf on his keyboard if described as a self-help guru, but to many in the Internet marketing industry he has Tony Robbins stature. I have read his materials and find his straight talking, sometime irreverent way of communicating refreshing and extremely motivational. Shoemoney is definitely worth a follow.
I am sure that there are many worthy people I have left off this list and will be happy to include any suggestions that I agree with. Let me know!

David
