You may know that I ride my bike each day for about an hour. The countryside in Switzerland is just awesome and there is nothing like being fit to boost your energy for business. Thing thing is, I have discovered podcasts.
Podcasting Has Been Around For Ever Dude!
I know, I know, they have been around for years and ‘where have I been’ and all that, but quite honestly I never had the time, nor inclination to spend hours of my time listening to other people. I have come to realise that this is a mistake.
You see, in the past, my number one down time pursuit was reading a book. I recently posted a small list of motivational books I like and there are hundreds more I want to read but time is very much a factor. I usually read on planes etc but more recently I have spent more time at home and have less time to read any books, but the opportunity to learn is something I enjoy.
Converted to Podcasts
This is why podcasts are now my thing. Every morning before my bike ride I go over to iTunes and download the latest podcasts for those I subscribe to. At the moment that is Yaro and Gideon from Entrepreneurs-Journey.com, the Internet Business Podcast by Tyrone Shum and today I discovered the Shoemoney show on webmasterradio.fm. And there is where my problem started.
Weired Goings On In Switzerland
Like I say I usually ride for about an hour but today I download Shoemoney’s interview with Yaro and the Shoemoney show where he interviewed Seth Godin. There is a point in my ride where I can turn left and start the ride home or turn right and keep going up the mountain. I was enjoying the shows so much I turned right..
Swiss Trojan Horse/Cow?
I rode through this village, where I took the picture of this bizarre cow/horse thing, which I assume is a cast off from a fair. At this point Shoemoney was telling Yaro about how he got into PPC. I was never into the whole Shoemoney fanclub lark before hearing him.
I guess you kind of have a picture in your mind of what people will be like and, for some reason, Shoemoney just didn’t do it for me. The simple fact is that he isĀ straight up no BS, tell-it-like-it-is and that is very, very refreshing. Yaro is so laid back he just let Shoemoney talk and that was probably the best thing. Really, really interesting stuff, you should definitely check it out.
On the left here are the carvings in St George. Basically local people have carved out various figures from huge logs and placed them all over the village. This was around the time that the Shoemoney show started.
Charlie Caplin Carving - Half Way Up A Swiss Mountain!
The point of this post is not the fact that I am getting far thinner and fitter because of my bikes rides, but that the quality of podcasts out there is awesome.
Even if you are an offline entrepreneur and you are not interested in ppc or making money from blogs etc, these podcasts are a must for learning how to get traffic and learning the general mindset of those that are successful on the web and that is priceless. You can’t avoid the web whatever you do so learning from those who are making a success of it is crucial.
Seriously – Listen To These Podcasts
Readers will already know that I strongly advocate getting fit as part of your business plan. There really is no excuse if you are looking to improve yourself. Getting fit is the single biggest thing you will do to change your mindset and put you on the path to success and that is a scientific fact.
Now with podcasting you can learn the strategies of successful entrepreneurs while you walk, run, ride or whatever you do to get fit. It really is an awesome way to learn.
So impressed am I with it that we will soon be having interviews with entrepreneurs via podcast on this site, with our own section on iTunes. I have met a number of entrepreneurs over my time and if I can twist some arms there will be some great podcasts for you to listen to.
Let me know if you have anyone you would particularly like. I will put them on my goals list and see what happens…. All the podcasts I have talked about are available at iTunes via the search facility or directly from the sites linked above. Enjoy.
