What is Ecademy.com?
Founded in 1998, Ecademy is a social network for business people. Ecademy provides networking opportunities through a combination of online and offline events. You are able to set up a profile online to tell others about yourself and what you do, join a business club based on your expertise and interest, network through a private messaging system, expand your network by asking for introductions to others, search for friends and former colleagues, post your curriculum vitea for others to learn about you, pretty much everything you can do on other networks.
What I like about ecademy is that it is full of ‘real’ business people, as opposed to other networks where fake or one time profiles proliferate. Having only been a member for a few months I have already connected with some very interesting people. I think it is also a testament to how the network is run, and how it works, when I can ask a member to ask Thomas if I can interview him for a podcast and Thomas says ‘sure’ without thinking. I doubt I will have the same result when I try to get hold of CEO’s of other networks.
A Basic Ecademy membership is Free. An intermediate membership called PowerNetworker carries a nominal monthly charge; a top level BlackStar membership requires a serious monthly investment, but also includes exclusive tools, memberships in private clubs, exclusive events, and one-on-one meetings. Various levels of service can be viewed at Ecademy’s site.
