If you have come here as a redirect from a first time comment, I really appreciate your input and thanks for contributing to our blog. To be a true entrepreneur one has to seek out and listen to feedback so I value your contribution greatly.

As for me, my name is David, I am very happily married and have one step son. We moved to Switzerland 4 years ago as we love the country, it is a hub of entrepreneurship, the people are fabulous and the skiing is not bad either!

My background as both an entrepreneur and financier has allowed me to make a living providing advice to companies on corporate matters and, along with some great business partners, the opportunity to invest and nurture online businesses. This is where this blog comes in.

Some time ago (15 years actually) after service in the Royal Airforce and 4 years as a Financial Advisor, I became part of an award winning training group in a financial services company, it is here where I found a love of teaching people to do things that perhaps they thought they could not do.

I specialised in sales and techical training but my ambition to make money was not being fulfilled (trainers in the firm I worked in were not paid much money). It is then that I looked for a career in the City, I lasted 18 months working for someone else before I branched out on my own with two business partners. The choice of business partners turned out to be a poor one, but in the meantime I had created a rapport with another business partner and together we embarked on building a hotel in the Caribbean. This was finished 18 months later and was opened to great fanfare.

During this time I was networking in London trying to develop a business there, broking or trading, I didn’t mind, when I came across a gentleman who was working with an American commodities business who were looking for a UK outlet. I had no money (every penny I had in the world was now in the hotel), no office and worst of all no idea what a commodity was. Nevertheless I flew to the States and demanded ‘exclusivity’ in Europe. After chuckling a little the boardroom, filled with 12 people, decided I could have exclusivity for one year, and keep it only if we did $30mn worth of business, they were satisfied they had done a good deal.

Our rag-tag band of home trained sales people did $32mn that year. I sold out some years later after being made a director of the firm.

Since this time I have financed businesses, trained sales people, consulted with small and large companies, upset people enough to write stuff about me on the web and made new firm friends and business associates who never believed the haters anyway.

I don’t claim to be the solution to all your problems, but I do claim to have strategies that I have used to live a great life and can help others do so too. My journey so far has lead me to talk to and learn the strategies of super successful multi millionaires and to understand the centered calmness of a Caribbean fisherman.

This blog is about passing on some of the strategies I have learned to those just starting out, or even those who have gained success but it is not what they expected. I am no miracle worker and I am not perfect, but will do my best to impart strategies and techniques that can improve your business and your life.

Regards
David

About Me

My name is David, I am very happily married and have one step son. We moved to Switzerland 4 years ago as we love the country, it is a hub of entrepreneurship, the people are fabulous and the skiing is not bad either!

This blog is about passing on some of the strategies I have learned in 20 years as an entrepreneur, from running a commodities operation producing $300mn per year of business to the challenges of owning a small hotel on a tiny Caribbean island and many businesses inbetween.

Others coaches are excellent at reading books and distilling the content for you, that is great if that is what you are looking for. I give you practical advice through my own successes and mistakes. I hope you find the blog useful.
